Otokar to sign Turkey’s biggest bus export deal

Otokar, a Koç Group company, continues to be favoured in foreign markets with its own designed buses. Otokar, which currently exports buses to more than 45 countries, particularly in Europe, has been awarded the contract by Bucharest Municipality to deliver 400 buses worth €98.3 million in total.

Serdar Görgüç, Otokar General Manager, underlined Otokar’s 55-year long experience and expertise in mass transportation vehicles, and said: “It is our great pride that our buses are preferred in a high quantity contract in Europe. With this contract we have also broken our own record for bus exports. In addition to offering new generation inner city buses with lengths ranging from 10 metres to 18 metres to the people of Bucharest, we will also provide aftersales services for eight years to Bucharest Municipality.”
Stating that the city will acquire one of the best fleets in Europe as a result of the transformation activities launched to meet the increasing mass transportation needs of the metropolis, Gabriela Firea, Bucharest Mayor, added that delivery of the first 100 buses is planned for this summer and the remaining 300 for next year to hit the roads of the Romanian capita

CARRYING PASSENGERS IN OVER 45 COUNTRIES
Currently carrying millions of passengers in more than 45 countries across the world, Otokar buses are favoured especially by European users with their design, comfort, technology and low operation costs. In 2017, Otokar’s total vehicle park rose to 2,500 levels in key target export markets, namely France, Italy and Spain, and 500 levels in the Balkans. The 18-metre Kent Articulated bus was exported to Italy, Serbia and Spain in 2017 as a first.
